Architecture is the art and science of designing and constructing buildings. Buildings are designed to serve a purpose, like providing shelter, a place of work, or a place of worship. An architect is someone who designs buildings and is trained to think creatively about how spaces can be used. For example, the Empire State Building in New York City was designed by an architect. It stands 1,454 feet tall, has 102 floors, and was built in just one and a half years. An architect might also design a school, which is a structure made of walls, windows, and a roof that provides a place for students to learn. The school might also have an auditorium, a cafeteria, and a library inside of it. To help you understand architecture, you can think of it like a puzzle.
