Is the earth flat? Ha! What kind of a silly question is that? Of course not! That’s like saying the sky is yellow! To prove it, let’s look at some facts. First of all, if you look at a globe, you can clearly tell that it is round. The evidence for that is overwhelming. For example, Columbus famously sailed around the world and proved that the Earth is round. Also, we have technology like satellites that can take pictures of the Earth from space, and it’s easy to tell from these images that the Earth is round. In fact, if you look at the pictures closely, you can see that the Earth is actually shaped like an oblate spheroid, which is an elongated sphere. Finally, the most conclusive evidence that the Earth is definitely not flat is the fact that if you travel in a straight line long enough, eventually you’ll end up right back where you started. This is called the “law of the large numbers,” and it’s proof that the Earth is a sphere. Fun fact: The ancient Greeks were the first people to suggest that the Earth was round, way back in the 6th century BC!
