EXPLAIN THE DARWINS THEORY

Charles Darwin’s Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection is a scientific theory that explains how living things change over time. It states that all living things have traits that can be passed on to their offspring, and these traits are determined by chance. Over time, these traits can become more or less common in a population, depending on whether they help or hurt the organism’s chances of survival. An example of this is the peppered moth. In the 19th century, the majority of peppered moths in England were light-colored, but some were dark. Scientists found that the dark-colored moths were better camouflaged against the sooty bark of trees in the industrialized areas and so were less likely to be eaten by predators. Over time, the population of peppered moths shifted from mostly light-colored to mostly dark-colored. Similarly, Darwin’s Theory of Evolution states that animals that are better adapted to their environment are more likely to survive and reproduce, so their traits will become more common in the population over time. Fun fact: Charles Darwin’s Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection was inspired by his observations of plants and animals during his voyage on the HMS Beagle.
